My water material looks like blue paint. How can I make it better?

It uses a flowmap and moves around nicely, but doesn’t look anything like water. Other than making it transparent I don’t know how to go about making it look more convincing. This is for VR so I am trying to avoid transparency if possible.

I dont think you can work around making it not transparent. Its a important attribute of fluids especialy Water even if its very dirty. You always get some Metalic/plastic look without. Even for something like Depth Fade you need a translucent Material.

The only thing you can make would be more foam and proper reflections (add more Objects around so you got something to reflect).
