Is there any audio considerations for working with Full Motion Video?

Hi Bessai,

Are you working with UDK or the Unreal Engine 4?

I am interested in importing live video characters into a world created by UDK Matinee and just wondered if there are any audio considerations - if my actors are talking is this going to translate ok?

I am not sure. I am considering a project and want to make sure that the green screened sequences with actors and heir native audio will work inside the engine - I want to use real actors in an interactive experience and avoid using motion capture. Brave New World UDK (google this) uses your engine but the actors are under music and voice over so I can’t see the proof of concept.

Hi Bessai,

I spoke with Marc Audy, our Senior Engine Programmer and he said that the Unreal Engine 4 is equal to or superior to UDK in every way as far as audio is concerned. With that said, live recorded audio is no different that VIOP at its core, but you will have to work out where the audio is coming from and how you route it through to the audio device. It’s doable but will certainly require code.

Thanks, TJ
