Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both

4.12 Extremely references in warnings

Hi,

I have a question.

I just copied a project from 4.11.2 to 4.12.0 I am getting warning that come up when I first double click on any map. This did not happen in 4.11.2. I know that if something is missing from the project the log will show but I copied this project so everything is here.

Also, before 4.12.0 even loaded I get a graphics card warning I am on a Mac. my graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB.

Hi,

I am going to add to my previous question.

4.12.0 is crashing. It happen one time when I changed the viewpoint layout of editor. I change the viewpoint so it could have 4 views. I believe is it the second to last choice in the layouts tab.

The second time it crashed I just moved some BSP brushes to the right maybe in inch

I believe this zip file holds the crash report and my project editor info. If you need more files please let me know. Thanks for your feedback

I do have the 4.11.2 version installed.

Also if I continue in 4.12 with my graphics set up will it cause problems when I try to package the project.

If you have the 4.11.2 version of the engine installed, I recommend continuing to develop in that version if you did not experience problems with graphics before.

If you continue in 4.12 this will not affect problems with packaging, but you will likely experience problems with advanced Graphical Interface options like changing the Viewport to 4 views.

Hi Steve,

I did create a new First Person project in 4.12 and Migrated all of the assets over. The warning did go away. However, it still cashes. It happened when I went to to my Main menu map then I clicked play in viewpoint. Everything shut down then the black crash window appeared.

The second it crashed I had just moved a blueprint around in level_3.

Third time it crashed I was playing Level 3 then I hit ESC then clicked play again then totally shut down. Have is the project. I will post the link to Dropbox when has finished uploading thanks

Looking over your logs, it appears your machine while working to some degree, is under-spec and causing these issues. In addition to Open GL being below spec, it shows here that you're running a dual core processor, when 4 core is the minimum recommended spec.

Also, your Level_3 map, running map check shows a few warnings that need to be corrected that could be causing the program to crash. All that said, I was able to open your project and each individual map without crashing and was able to package it for mac without error.

If possible, please test your project on a Mac that meets the minimum specifications that I linked to below.

I appreciate you looking over my project. Also your feedback. I will be getting a new Mac some time soon. I will just have to wait and 4.12 then. Also I didn't even know I had warnings in my level_3. The log never appeared in 4.11 0r 4.12 it crashed before it could shown I guess.

Hi xFREDx,

  • When you copied your project from UE4.11 to UE4.12, did you keep the original UE4.11 version?

  • In the 4.12 copy, have you tried right-clicking on the Contents folder and selecting "Fix Up Redirectors in Folder?"

  • The graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB only supports OpenGL 3.3 according to this chart from Apple's website:

  • OpenGL3

  • An OpenGL 4.1 compatible card is recommended to run any version of UE4 (See: Hardware & Software Specifications)

To Summarize: Since your machine does not meet the minimum recommended requirements, I do not recommend upgrading your project to UE4.12. If you decide to move forward, I suggest opening a new blank project in UE4.12, make sure it is functioning properly, then migrate your assets from the UE4.11 version. This will take more work but will result in a more stable copy.
