EU4 editor crashes on startup (mac)

Hey,

Im trying to run the EU4 Editor and it crashes as soon as I open a project. It doesn’t matter what project whether it is a demo on the marketplace, a blank project or one of the templates. I am able to get up to the first tutorial window on startup before it freezes up and crashes.

I have installed Xcode, updated the engine to 4.1.1 and installed a fix found on the forum (Crash on MacOSX 10.9 while using a ps3 controller - Programming & Scripting - Epic Developer Community Forums), however It still continues to crash.

Here are my Mac’s specifications:
Processor Name: Intel Core i5
Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz
Memory: 12 GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB
OS Version: OS X 10.9.2

The only thing I can think of is maybe the fact my graphics card is 512MB not 1GB this could cause the editor to simply not run? Could this be the issue?

So, I installed UE4 on the windows (boot camp) side of the mac and it runs.
Therefore my graphics card being 512MB shouldn’t be the issue right?
Does anyone know of some known reason why UE4 wont run on the mac?

Technically the ATi 4850 GPU is beneath the minimum requirements for UE4, as it is only an OpenGL 3.3 GPU. On Windows it will work, but the Mac OS X OpenGL drivers for the 4850 don’t support some rendering features that are necessary for UE4 to run. The 4.2 release should add minimal support for these cards on OS X at the expense of some rendering effects we can’t support.
