Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Incorrect Sprite Color on Android

Why my sprites hue is getting shifted on build, hue is correct on the windows player but mobile preview on devices or in emulator shows incorrect color. sRGB is on for textures, test with off, no difference. Is this a bug or what ?

See the attachment, on left is correct hue, on right shifted hue.

Update: updated to 4.12.3 and this issue didn't resolved.

Hey Tahmidk15,

  • Could you please show me screenshots of the sprites/textures?

  • What type of mobile device are you on?

  • Is this happening on any other Android? What about iOS?

  • Have you been able to reproduce this in a newly created project, or only this project?

  • Sprite is in the screenshot (tried different compression settings, texture group, sRGB on/off, legacy gama, no change)alt text

  • I am testing on Andy Emulator 46.2 (Tested on all the virtual GPU type, no luck)

  • I have tested on my android 5.0 mobile (GPU mali 400) , color was correct there but many sprites are missing from the level (Trees)

  • Yes, i have created a new project and imported same texture as sprite, same result on andy emulator.

Update: Installed on bluestack 2.0, same result as my mobile, everything looks low resolution (aliased) and tree paper2dactor is missing . alt text

Tried to change texture format to ETC2, DXT, the result is every shader is missing but UI is visible.alt text

Please do not use an emulator when you're trying to verify a bug, it doesn't provide accurate results. Do you have any other device that you can test on that may show different colors?

  • Could you please provide me with the exact name of your device so that I can attempt to locate one similar or the same to test with?

  • I'll also need a copy of your texture/material to test with.

  • If you have any special settings set up, screenshots or reproduction steps are greatly appreciated.

Update:

  • Can I see how the tree sprite is set up?

  • My device is Walton HM mini (Chinese non-branded device)

Hue is correct on physical device(At least on my one) but hue changes on emulator(Andy). Tried to package the project as apk (both development & shipping mode). Shouldn't a png spirte look same across all platform and devices? [link text][1]

We do not support emulators. You're free to use them at your own will, but it's possible that the emulator isn't seeing the colors channels correctly and is modifying them.

I have pushed your sprites to both a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (closest to your device) and a LG Nexus 5. Both showed up in the correct colors and the trees showed up in each deployment.

Do you have another mobile device you could use, such as borrowing one to make sure you're not seeing any other complications?

Thanks for the info, but if i recall correctly version 4.10 didn't had this issue, i was developing with paper2d in 4.10 and sprites looked correct and all paper2dactors showed up correctly in my device.Now downloading 4.10 again to see if this issue existed in 4.10. (I will confirm) Also paper2d didn't had any major update for a long time, will it ever be out of beta? 2D is still a big feature for mobile platform. Hope to see some improvements on paper2d and flipbook usability.

Did you set up your tree differently than your house when you made the sprite? I set them both up the exact same when testing.

While Andy Emulator may have worked with 4.10, we do not support Emulators and we do not expect them to work as a mobile device would. Let me know how 4.10 goes once it's downloaded though.

In regards to Paper2D coming out of beta, we do not have any public information that we can provide at this time. I would suggest following the forums as well as our release notes for additional information.

Tree Blueprint is working now, i may have accidentally changed LOD mode to medium. Now works perfectly on device. Couldn't get 4.12 project working on 4.10 to test emulator issue, no assest is showing up in 4.10.

I'm glad that you've gotten the Tree Blueprint corrected. If you want to test 4.12 with the Emulator, you'll need to open your 4.10 version of the project in 4.12 and create a copy of it. That should work for you.
