Realistic lighting for lamps

Hey guys,

I wonder if anyone has some sort of trick to get my lights look beter especially the shadow on the ceiling (it’s real dark and sharp). I prefer to use movable light because I intend to make the light swing a little. But I can leave that out if there is no other way.

Thanks,

If it moves just a little I would create a static light to get proper indirect lighting and a movable light for the specular highlighting+ maybe dynamic shadowing. Make sure there is a lightmass importance volume around your playable area. This will place indirect lighting samples for movable objects. Always rebuild your lighting as well before checking for issues.

I just altered the lamp so lighting got “unbaked” but even when baked it was pretty much the same.

Everything you said I have, I even bumped up the indirect illumination to 2.0. Still just a near black circle on the ceiling.

I gave my point light a source radius but it changed nothing. Do I need to turn on “Generate Mesh Distance Fields”?
