Epic Games Lancher Wait message?

So I’ve had this error on several occasions and it’s really baffling because it only happens when no internet connection is present. As in either there is no WiFi, or no Ethernet cable is plugged in.

The oddest part is that the error message acts like it is connected to the internet and it makes you wait 2 minutes because it thinks that there are too many people trying to log into their accounts. And you can’t choose “Offline” mode because the error message prevents you from doing so by overlapping the Offline option.

As you can see in this image, I have no internet that can be used. However the Launcher acts like it’s still seeing the Epic user server and gives a message stated that user access is limited. You can also see that anything behind the error message cannot be operated, including the button for Offline mode.

However when a internet connection is present and being used, this error message is not shown and thus the user does not have to wait 2 minutes just to get into the main Launcher screen.

I find this really weird and also a giant problem when you want to use the Launcher with no internet connection, but you can’t choose Offline mode and are required to wait because an error popped up when it shouldn’t even be present. It’s like the Launcher thinks it has communication with the User database server and it’s being told by the server that user access is limited, thus forces the user to wait when they shouldn’t even have to.

Unless this is intended (which makes absolutely no sense if it is), this is a really big issue and bug from what I can tell. Helpfully it can be fixed with a simple Launcher patch.

Hi Freakazoid!,

I’m sorry that you are having an issue with the Epic Games Launcher. In order for us to offer the best support, we have recently modified the process for how Epic Games can help troubleshoot your Launcher issue. Please visit http://help.epicgames.com/ for technical support, here you can find information and solutions for common issues, as well as a contact form if you still need additional assistance. Thanks!

This doesn’t answer or even solve the issue. You didn’t even tell me why this is an error, or how it can be.
This error only appears when no internet access is present, however the error clearly shows that the Launcher thinks there is internet and thus delays the load time for no apparent reason.

Passing me off to some other site doesn’t fix this issue, it just delays the solution to solving it.

Can I at least have an answer to why this is happening? Or have someone talk about if this issue will be fixed or if it will be ignored (which would be a really disappointing response).

Hey, I am sorry for not trying to answer your question. Because we have recently changed the system we still have users with issues like this directed to answerhub, this is a temporary situation but I appreciate that it is frustrating to have setup what is a very detailed and informative post here only to be told to go somewhere else.

It would appear you have identified an actual bug in the launcher, as blocking a user from going into offline mode is certainly not the desired behavior.

If this issue is causing you real problems I would suggest you do go to the site I mentioned above and contact the dedicated launcher support team via the Email Us button. They will be able to work directly with the developers to identify your specific issue and either come up with a work around or hopefully fix the issue in an up coming release.

Again apologies for not covering this earlier.
