Small Terrains. Which software to use?

Hello everyone.
I’m creating a level for my game with Maya3D. In this level basically i need small pieces of terrain (like 500m if not smaller).
The question is: it’s better to create those terrains directly on Unreal Engine or should i use Maya3D? (with sculpting tool). Sincerously i don’t think it’s a good idea using UE for small pieces of terrain,it would be a waste of performance…that’s why i decided to ask here.

even if it’s a small or big terrain, you can make it where ever you want. From what I know UE4 have good performance with landscape, but for sure you can make the most appropriate landscape for your situation inside other tools.

I give trick to use UE4 landscape tools and someone give link for tools like WorldMachine.

Here a link with a bunch of software for making landscape, I only try WorldMachine but it give you an idea of what is avalaible => Artificial Terrain Tools & Software Packages

So like I say it depend on what you need, personally I prefer to use UE4 landscape with a good material, it take a lot more time but give good result. If you need something fast and nice try one from the list in the link above.

Hi,i think i’ll avoid World Machine because my goal is to create very very small pieces of terrain (not big landscapes) so i don’t think World Machine will be the best choice for my needs.
However,i’ll take a look at those links. If i don’t find anything,i’ll stick with UE4.
