Export from 3ds Max to UE4 Failed

I have a project modeled on Rhino and import in 3ds Max as default .dwg format. There are several blocks included on rhino such as windows, handrails, structures elements, etc. Once on 3ds max converted into a mesh I started to unwrapping object by object. The problem came when I started to export these objects to .FBX format. The folder where I export the .fbx files is empty. I don´t know whether is a FBX esport x-cript, a rhino model issuu or I´m doing something wrong on 3ds max.

Okay, so you can’t find them when you try to import them into UE4? Or the files are not in the folder after exporting them from 3ds Max?

The files are not in the folder. I’ve tried to drop them on the desktop and any others folders but only appear a empty flie named Block. There is no any fbx.

Hmm…that’s weird.
So it’s not 3ds Max. It creates the file but it doesn’t save them as an FBX file?

Let’s do some testing.

Can you try to export the block as an OBJ file.

Its working now. It was a matter of wrong naming layers. When I export from rhino to 3dsmax the name of the layers change by default. e.g. AR-Wall is renamed as “Layer:ARCHITECTURE_$AR-Wall”. If I erase “Layer:ARCHITECTURE_$” I can export the model perfectly. Thanks for the tip.

I didn’t really do anything. :stuck_out_tongue:
You figured it out yourself. Good job!
I am happy you got it all working! Take care and have a nice day.
