Unexplained Fast PIE Speed

Not all the actors are in Matinee, but the game plays much too fast, without any Time Dilation or Matinee play rates changes

Hi AaronAikman,

  • Does this occur in a clean, blank project with no additional content or is it limited to one project?
  • What steps can I take to reproduce this on my end?
  • Are you setting a lot of information off of tick?
  • What are you seeing and what is the expected speed?

Hi AaronAikman,

We have not heard from you in several days. I am marking this as answered for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing this error, please comment with the requested information.

Hi there.

I am having the issue again, so I thought I would come back to this. It only happens in one project, but that project is using the same settings as my other projects that aren’t having the issue.

To reproduce, I suppose you could put a lot of skeletal actor animations into a scene and have them play via the anim to play variable. Otherwise, I just have a somewhat large environment and a camera in the matinee.

I tried deleting everything, bu a few actors from the level, but the issue still occured. I’m using a blueprint with very little info off of tick, but even when deleting that from the scene, the game ran fast.

I’m seeing the game playing at about twice the regular speed with PIE. It renders fine, and the camera looks fine in matinee. I can also modify the rate by changing the time dilation in the level blueprint, but that is just guesswork.

Hey AaronAikman,

To clarify, you have not been able to reproduce this in a clean project? If this is the case, could you please up your project, upload it to Dropbox, and provide me with a link so I can take a look at your setup? You can PM me the project link on the forums: https://forums.unrealengine.com/member.php?160394-Sean-Flint

Yes, I haven’t be able to reproduce the bug in any other projects, but unfortunately, I can’t provide you with the whole project. Could I provide you with ini files that might help?

In order to determine the cause of this issue, we’ll need to get more information about your setup. Have you played with custom time dilation on any of your skeletal meshes at any point?
Are you able to provide screenshots of any blueprints that we can use to reproduce this issue on our end?
Any steps or information you can provide regarding your setup would be extremely helpful.
