Camera not movable

Hey,

Just updated to UE4.12.3 gotta say, looks good, until suddenly my character changed in the viewport and when i try playing the game the camera is just stuck in the ground. When i stop playing it gives me errors all over the place, what i can clearly see is that my camera component on my character bugged out or something because it’s now static for no reason. Is this a bug or is it possible to fix??

Thanks.

Hi GMP_Leader,

Can you check to ensure your player character is set both in the world settings and project settings and that that pawn is what is possessed on begin play? If these are both set, please let me know what the specific errors you are seeing state.

It is in my case. cameraBoom (spring arm) had become static. It was newly reworked cameraBoom.

Hi ,

I Checked and the pawn is set in the world settings and project settings.
Also checked the level blueprint and added the possess at the end, and it still doesn’t work, the console says : “FirstPersonCamera has to be ‘movable’ if you want to move”.

BTW: If i move my character, my camera and all it’s components just stay at the same place, and it’s always the same place. Just figured out that location is 0 0 0

The Camera doesn’t have a spring arm btw.

but here’s the details panel from the camera:

is your springarm component set to do collision checks? If so it may be colliding and forcing the camera to the blueprint origin. Can I see your camera details and/or a screenshot of what is occurring?

What steps can I take to reproduce this error on my end?

Hi GMP_Leader,

We have not heard from you in several days. I am marking this as answered for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing this error, please comment with the requested information.

Sorry i didn’t answer a this whole time but with all these exams, you know, and what do you mean ?

Sorry i didn’t answer a this whole time but with all these exams, you know, and what do you mean with your last post about ‘What steps can I take to reproduce this error on my end?’?

Hi GMP_Leader,

Not a problem. What I meant was are there a specific set of steps that I can follow to re-create the error you are seeing on my end? How can I set up my Camera to react in a similar way to what you are seeing. If I can reproduce it and find the cause, I can either write up a bug report or perhaps see what is occurring.

uhn it’s just the standard camera from the FirstPerson asset , in the beginning it worked fine but after update 4.12.3 if i’m not mistaking, it totally crashed or something but it doesn’t work anymore

Hey the problem has seem to have fixed itselves, but there’s something else i wanted to ask: is it possible to manually update the AI pawn sensing component on a player?

Hey GMP_Leader,

Please create a new post for the AI Pawn Sensing issue, as it is not related to the original question. You can create the post in the Blueprint Scripting section. However, keep in mind that we do not guarantee support for development questions. Also, be sure to perform a search in our documentation to see if the question has been asked already, as there might already be an answer out there for what you’re looking to do.

In the meantime, we will mark this post as resolved for tracking purposes, as you do not seem to be experiencing the original issue anymore. If the issue resurfaces, feel free to post a comment and reopen this thread.

Have a great day
