Why does landscape painting not work on some components?

I’ve built a landscape and built a landscape shader per UE4 docs, however, one of the components in my landscape does not display the shader. I’ve recompiled the shader being used. Any idea what might cause or resolve this? Alternatively, what would be a good way to troubleshoot this?

i initially resolved this by including the same texture in the component material override, but in newer engine builds this hasn’t been an issue anyhow.
