Dynamic Light's range resets to 1024 when animated

Hi. I’m making a cinematic where the “player” pulls a lever and a bunch of distant dynamic lights turn on and light some structures. I have about four lighting groups in matinee with two lights each and they have their strength go from 0 to about 600k at set intervals.

Now the problem is that no matter what type of light I use, the second I add them to matinee their radius is reset to 1024 (I need about 15000). I tried changing and animating the radius to a higher value but there’s clearly a cap at 1024 and any value above that gets reset once you tinker with the light inside matinee.

Hey Bedrock -

If you are using a Lighting Group in your Matinee, the radius will reset initially to 1024, but you can make a single keyframe at time zero in the radius track of the lighting group and right click and Set Value to 15000. This will reset your radius back to your desired size then adjust the intensity as you need.

Let me know if you are still having a problem.

Hi! Thanks that actually managed to solve the problem. It’s kinda silly but I totally didn’t know that you could right click on the timeline and assign a value manually, instead I would change the value in the light properties and then hit enter to add the keyframes with those values.

I’m curious though because that method is what I used for light intensity and it worked fine without resetting to a default value… which is why I assumed the problem was on your side. I imagine this can confuse future users
