How comes your not using a Arrow for spawn location ?.. looks like your math for -neg values is making the bullet spawn into itself (ie the ship)… should be easier if you place a Arrow on the ship front and if its from the ship it work in any angle… if its towards mouse position you can use the arrow as the from location… let us know how it goes
