I can’t open the current launcher, and I know it’s because my OS X version is too old, but I can’t upgrade to 10.10.5 for various reasons. Is there any way to download an old launcher so I can install an older version of UE4?

You have run into a known issue with the launcher. We currently don’t support before 10.10.5 however we have work planned in the very near future to address this and resume support for earlier versions of OS X.

Thats not a problem. If you did have an engine installed then you could have launched it directly. Unfortunately that is not the case here. This leaves you with only 2 options I can see:
- Update your Mac OS X version (I understand this might not be possible)
- Download the engine from Github, this is more complicated but will give you the source version of the Engine. You have to be sure to get version 4.10 or earlier however because newer versions also have the OS X limitation. Unlike the launcher this limitation will not be changing in the future, so if you need to use the latest version of the Engine you will unfortunately have to update.
This allowed me to get it open and download Fortnite.
