Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

4.13 Master - Screen Space Shadows

I've tested SSS and there are some issues with it. I'm aware it's on early stage, and still:

Some leakage on certain camera angles: shadow leak

Camera Z clipping: Z clipping

Hi S-ed,

We don't typically report any issues with the Master Branch since it's always in active development and is known to have issues.

As for Screen Space Shadows, this is not a feature that I'm aware of being in development or added to the engine that I can see. If it is, there are some things to keep in mind with any Screen Space feature.

  • It is screen space oriented. This means that it cannot know what is there if it cannot see it in the view.

  • Like SSR, there is likely to be leaking and quality settings.

supposedly in 4.13, according to this video, screenspace raytrace shadows. is it only in the master branch, is it in the compiled preview releases?

It is in 4.13 but at the moment there are not any plans to announce it as a fully detailed feature, much like forward rendering. It's there, but not ready to go over all the details since there is likely some work still be done that won't be completely ready for this release.

Ah cool, I'm not in front of my computer at the moment, but where abouts are the configuration settings for this? Post process or on the lights or somewhere else? I checked out preview 1, but not the last two releases. Thanks Tim

You can find it under the light source and adjust the Contact Shadow Length.
