Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Office Holiday

Flicker of Editor Widgets in ViewPort

UE 4.12.4 With Realtime Render on for the viewport, the Editor GUI Widget such as the tri-axis tool or even the collision box around an actor flickers. This goes away if realtime render is turned off. This was not happening with 4.12.3. Video: https://youtu.be/KLRzvyKUwPI. Yes I have rebooted after the update was installed.

Hi skcalanerson,

We have a bug in for this active since UE4.11 (UE-27525) reporting flickering, but only if the nVidea Card is inactive and the Intel card active... Can you verify that the nVidea Card is active when you are experiencing this bug?'

You can set this by opening Energy Saver and, at the top, uncheck Automatic Graphic Switching which will leave your nVidea Card open at all times. (You can switch back after testing.) It is expected this will resolve the flickering -In which case, this is the same bug that has already been reported.

This was already disabled and it makes no difference with it on or off.

The machine I'm testing this on is slightly lower spec than yours and I am not seeing the same behavior so I requested our Hardware team test this on a machine with the same hardware as yours and they, too, were not able to reproduce this behavior.

Please describe the exact conditions in which this is occurring. ie. If this occurs in a blank project, which template are you testing with. What are your preview rendering settings? Do you have any special Editor settings? etc. Is this still occurring in UE4.12.5?

Hello! I am experiencing the exact same thing. Especially the outline of a selected geometry flickers in most places - that is the blue or green lines are flickering. My project is a fresh install of 4.17, with a ground and a geometry box and sphere.

The flickering goes away when: - I switch from additive to subtractive. - When i press a menu, like the settings, play or launch-drop down menus in the top of the viewport.

Did a fresh install of video drivers, dont really understand the issue. I have a Gtx 970, i5, UE is on an SSD, Windows 10.

Please halp!!

Also, there's no flickering when in unlit or wireframe mode. Tried rebuilding lighting as well.
