Crashing Everytime - Compiling MyCharacter Blueprint from ThirdPersonTemplate

Hi. As the name suggests, everytime I import my model, re-scale it, set it in the MyCharacter blueprint and hit Compile, the editor crashes. I’ve tried different PCs, Re-installing unreal, Mutliple projects but it still does it. I have included the Dump file and Log:

Literally everytime. Can someone tells me what’s up?

BUMP - Issue still hasn’t been fixed.

Windows 8 is known to take any “special” (non-ascii and such) characters contained in your e-mail personal name (from the e-mail you used to start your windows 8 prfile) and place tem right into your user’s system folder…

That might be enought to trigger a lot of crashes just like this one…

Maya is known to be unable to save or load .ma files in windows 8 in suc circunstances, and I’ve experienced a similar crash as you described while testing UE4 in a windows 8 (same files didn’t crashed in my old windows 7 )

I don’t know if this will shed any more light on the subject, but I launched the editor and then accidentally started compiling my project in Visual Studio while it was still loading. The next time I tried playing the game in the editor it would auto-crash. Eventually the Editor’s loading screen would just hang. After several attempts I just restarted the computer, but it also hung up on shutdown so I ended up just turning it off manually. Once I restarted I was seeing these errors and many others in common with this thread. I think it’s also worth mentioning that when I compiled in VS, the only class I was working on was the player class. When I was finally able to start the game, it was the player that was all jacked up. Took me a while to fix and while the game runs, I still get localization errors. At one point I also deleted the Boot.ddc file as per an answer on the other thread I linked. I’m using Windows 8.1.

Thank you for your report. We were not able to investigate this on the engine version you reported, but there have been many version changes to UE4 since this question was first posted. With a new version of the Engine comes new fixes and it is possible that this issue has changed or may no longer occur.
