Automatic snapping actors to correct z coordinate when placing

Hi,

so far when I was designing my level every time I drag and dropped an actor into the level its z coordinate was directly adjusted so the actor was just on the ground. Now suddenly this doesn’t work anymore and I cannot find an option anywhere I could’ve touched what changed it. Adjusting the coordinates afterwards for each new actor costs so much time…

Does somebody can give me a hint where I can find that option?

Have your “snap to grid” settings been changed?

The various options are explained here: A new, community-hosted Unreal Engine Wiki - Announcements - Epic Developer Community Forums

There is a Surface Snapping option (shown here - "Snap to floor" not working.Version 4.6 Preview - Platform & Builds - Epic Developer Community Forums) is that enabled?

Snap to grid is still activated as it always way when I remember correctly.

I just noticed the problem only occurs when placing actors on the landscape, not when placing actors on top of other actors.

So yesterday I changed the landscape material.

So I unplugged the metallic, specular and roughness inputs and enabled the option “Bake material position offset into collision” of the landscape. Suddenly it worked.

So I undid each of those changes one after the other to find out which one of these caused the problem. Now each of those settings are the same as when I created this question and it still works…

No idea what was the problem but now I’m happy.
