Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

[Website] Full-screen disabled on embedded Youtube videos

For some unfathomable reason, there appears to be a blanket ban across the entire unrealengine.com for allowing the use of the Full-screen button in embedded Youtube videos.

It might seem like nitpicking, but I find it impossible to watch them in such a tiny box, and if I have to open a separate Youtube window, then I'll inevitably get sucked into the endless sea of recommended videos and never get any work done! :P

Since every other site I use doesn't have this problem, and I can't imagine any justifiable reason for this, it must be a bug. right? an under-sight of the web team maybe?

I was not able to reproduce this by going to

...clicking on The Solus Project, and then the YouTube link on that page:

...If this is not an accurate reproduction of the issue you are experiencing, please list repro steps as I have done here. Also, what web browser are you using?

Please provide this information and we will continue to investigate.

Hmm ok, I am now learning that it may just be the forum, and never realised because I must only see vids in the forum. though this is mindblowing to the point that I feel I might be forgetting somewhere important. :D

But anyway, the forum has this limitation for sure and I guess that's where (in my case at least) the most-watched videos are, like this thread: https://forums.unrealengine.com/showthread.php?96447?

If you need to see the video in full screen, you can work around this by clicking the "YouTube" logo at the bottom of the embedded video screen to watch on YouTube. At that point you can watch the Video in Full screen mode.

As stated in the original post. I am aware of this workaround.

The problem is that it's a needless distraction.

The function is likely being blocked by an ad-blocking application. Disable them all and test it out.

Are you saying that you can full-screen the videos on this thread or any other? https://forums.unrealengine.com/showthread.php?96447?

Youtube FS button

This button works for you?

I can't, even in another browser like MS Edge with 0 addons.

I did some more digging and found the solution! your webteam just needs to add the allowfullscreen option to the embed code that controls youtube vids.

Using Chrome's devtools source inspector, I can confirm adding this option to videos on the forum does indeed allow them to become fullscreen.

Hey KWS,

I've entered a Feature Request to the team that runs the forums. Since we use vBulletin Software to run our forums, it may come down the limitations (legal or otherwise) whether or not this feature gets implemented.

Thank you for the input,

Steve H.
