BSP stairs to static mesh causes object lighting to disappear?

Hi,

I have added BSP stairs to the level which looks fine with a materiel.

As soon as I convert the BSP stairs into a static mesh they still look fine until I build the lighting, this causes the stairs to go black and have no lighting at all.

I have tried everything I can think of but I can not get the same results as I can with a normal BSP staircase.

I am new to unreal and game development and do not use any 3D modeling software.

Is there a way that I can use unreal to possibly fix the issue… if not I will have to use the BSP stairs and not create a static mesh (I don’t even know the difference).

I am using version 4.12, the screenshots I have attached

show the static mesh before and after I build the lighting.

Any advise would help.

Kind Regards

Tom

Hi Tommow,

Follow the instructions here to set the converted BSP to use the correct Lightmap Coordinate Index and have a proper Lightmap Resolution: A new, community-hosted Unreal Engine Wiki - Announcements - Epic Developer Community Forums

This should get things looking correctly once you rebuild your lighting.
