Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

[Gear VR] Dithering between LODs is incredibly performance taxing

I have been experiencing an issue where performance drops significantly if I am looking at an actor, close up, with LODs and dithered LOD transition option turned on (in the material). The closer I am to the actor, the more significant performance drop is.

I don't believe performance drop happens during one LOD transitioning into another, but when base LOD is being rendered and camera is really close to it.

If I turn off that option in the material, I have no performance drop at all.

foliage.DitheredLOD 0 cvar does the trick and disables dithering between LODs on HISMCs and foliage (although I only tested with HISMCs and haven't tested performance on the device yet)

I also was not able to revert back to dithered LOD transitions (any value of the cvar does something except bringing back default behavior)

Alternatively +CVars=foliage.DitheredLOD=0 can be added to DefaultDeviceProfiles.ini for specific device profile

While I was able to disable dithering, unfortunately that did not affect performance :(
