[Feature Request] Material Visualization beyond 0-1 range

Basically what the title says. AFAIK the only visualization you can see in material editor is the preview colors, which are of course in the range of 0-1 for R G and B. Many calculations however go beyond that range of course, and there have been countless times where I keep making the assumption that the color preview is a direct representation of what the values might be, only to remember later that they are colors and only represent a specific range. Could there be another method for material value visualization? Maybe clicking on a specific point in the preview will show the values in RGB (or whatever components are present) at the point that was clicked? Maybe even having an entirely different visualization than using colors? I feel like it would be very beneficial for heavy math related materials.
