Failed to load outer for resource error

Was just developing on unreal, i saved everything, and when i came back, it keeps saying “Failed to load outer for resource.” I have seen other answers, but need clarification. Delete the “Binaries win 64” in the project folder? What? Migrate to a new project? How? Please help

Hi Rudy,

Heres a few answers to your questions.

1:i have no idea how to reproduce this, as i have no idea what caused it

2:nope

3: no i can not, as the blueprints do “not exist” in the unreal content. When i try to import the files into unreal, unreal crashes.

4: i can try to, however it will be awhile

Hello Bubbalooch,

I have a few questions for you that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.

Quick questions:

  1. Can you reproduce this issue in a clean project?
  2. If so, could you provide a detailed list of steps to reproduce this issue on our end?
  3. Could you provide screen shots of any blueprints/settings that may be involved with this issue?
  4. Could you provide your complete log file?

If you would like to delete you binaries, saved, and/or intermediate folder(s) you can by default, find them at the following file path: C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Unreal Projects\YourProjectName

This issue has not been resolved. I basically just started over again from scratch, and i have not encountered the same issue… Yet.

Hello Bubbalooch,

As stated above this has been marked as resolved for tracking purposes. Feel free to reopen this issue when you have additional information in order to reproduce this issue on our end. I am happy to hear that you have not run into the issue. If it happens again, reopen this issue with any additional information you may have and I will be happy to assist you further.

Hi Rudy,
So I came back and re-encountered this error a couple days ago and I still have no idea how to fix it. I did go in and delete the unreal 4.12 folder as well as the Common directory, but even that did not fix it. I did update to 4.19 and have not had a chance to test it, but in case that does not fix it, do you have any suggestions? The one file I have has all my work on it and I’d hate to lose everything.

Hello Bubbalooch,

We have not heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing the issue you reported, please respond to this message with additional information and we will follow up.

Thanks,
