Trouble starting my project after updating to latest release

I got prompted to update my engine and since i’m mostly working on simple static meshes I decided to do so. But once I had done this my project was failing to start. It booted to 45-70% at times but then simply shut down without error messages. I removed the config folder of the project and tried removing some more of the cached data and managed to get my project running again for a while.

However when trying to start the project back up again I get similar errors where the editor just won’t start. When looking in the task manager the UE4 process is running and writing to disk at 50Mb/s or so. I looked at my project drive and something was indeed being written to disk as my HDD space was steadily decreasing.

I shut down the UE4 process after a while as it didn’t seem to boot anyway. I did not get the HDD space back however.

Anyone who has experienced this behaviour? What’s being written to disk and why won’t the editor boot my project?

I checked the project folder, there are 88.6Gb of logfiles in the /Logs folder.
