Dynamically changing sound volume multiplier?

Can it be done? I mean, in theory that should work:

I’m changing Volume variable via timeline and then it goes into looping sound’s volume multiplier.
But it just doesn’t work for some reason. I can see how Volume variable is changing, but sound stays completely silent the entire time.
