[BUG] 4.11 - Doesn't Render Particles Correctly, when using a Widget!

I have several projects in 4.10 - they all run flawlessly!

I recently installed 4.11 - and noticed that in any project - when I enter “Immersive Mode” after pressing F11… my particle effects do not render properly. They literally freeze up!

This conflict occurs as soon as a widget is created and added to the viewport. The engine (4.11) can not seem to render both correctly at the same time.

A gentleman from your staff had been helping me with this, and was convinced that the “Substance Plug-in” caused this issue. But I’ve since removed substance and uninstalled/reinstalled 4.11 - and still the same problem persists.

A friend of mine has substance and uses 4.11 but doesn’t have this issue - What is going on here??

Any help regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated - as this has stunted my progress for almost 2 weeks. Unfortunately I can’t use 4.11 otherwise ( BTW - same thing occurs in 4.12 )

Hello,

This sounds like a known issue, Unreal Engine Issues and Bug Tracker (UE-32522)

Take a look at that link and let me know if that sounds like what you’re experiencing. If so, then it has already been entered into our system.

Thank you for your report.

Yes, thanks Sean - that’s exactly correct!

Can I just ask - “backlogging” means you guys are aware of this and actively working on a fix? …or that not enough people are experiencing the problem and therefore you prioritize it less …I’m unclear on which?

…I’ll also just mention in regard to UE-32522 - it’s not just text blocks specifically - it’s the widget! (you could have a progress bar, etc - any created widget that is added to viewport)

So what else can I do about this?

Ed was certain that the substance plug in had something to do with it …but I’ve since eliminated that from the equation. This is our conversation if you feel like checking into this further…

Your Staff does such a Great Job here!! …I have to say!! you guys are very responsive. Ed spent a lot of time looking into this for me. Hope we can eventually get this resolved

The backlogged resolution is given to issues that are considered a lower priority. At the current time, our development staff are currently focusing their efforts on high-priority crash and showstopper bugs.

Unfortunately, at this time, there are no known workarounds for the issue. However, if you do end up discovering one, feel free to post it here so other users can make use of it.

Thank you for providing the additional information!

Have a great day

I’d like to report an update in regard to this issue: UE-32522

Anyone who may be experiencing this should know - that today I learned that when you cook the game and run it, all particle effects render perfectly fine in full screen!!

The Bottom Line:
If you experience this glitch, you can rest easy knowing that it’s just an in-engine glitch and it won’t affect the final product.

Hope this helps others experiencing this problem - and staff can use this info to reassure them.
