Custom Installation Folder?

A good while ago when UE 4.10 was current through Epic Games Launcher I was able to choose a custom location for installation of the UDK. Epic Games Launcher failed to work a few months later so I had to uninstall the launcher (just the launcher) and reinstall but there was not a way to select a custom installation folder during installation… instead Epic Games Launcher forced install location (unethical) to C drive. When loading the launcher it offers to repair but instead REINSTALLS 4.10 to the C drive when there’s a perfectly good copy on the original install drive. Googling this issue was of absolutely no help, as C drive (a small m.2 SSD for the OS ONLY) is not an option. When searching registry, Windows/Shell/MuiCache shows correct install directory for 4.10 unreal binaries. Another entry has C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games\Launcher\Engine\Binaries\Win64\UnrealVersionSelector.exe… again, i do not want any program related to game development on my C drive, I should have the right to choose where to install 3rd party software on my PC. As should every other user of UDK. Is there a registry entry which declares the default installation drive and folder for UDK packages and modules? because searching with keyword unreal did not seem to turn up anything that would work for changing UDK default installation folder.

This provides a solution: https://wiki.unrealengine.com/Installing_UE4_To_A_Different_Hard_Drive
while at the same time STAFF has said it is not recommended:
https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/167077/how-to-install-on-a-different-drive-that-c-drive.html

All this can be avoided by simply allowing the end user to CHOOSE installation location.

These are not solutions for my situation, as system linking folders is not working for me.

Pardon me but I never wrote that i found a solution for my situation. I simply posted a comment where others shared options which currently is not a solution for me.

In order to get assistance with the launcher and installation issues, please visit the website I linked above. We’ve recently modified our process for assisting users with launcher issues in order to ensure that we’re able to provide the best support.

Take a look at that page and if you are unable to find your solution, you can use the Contact Us button on the side of that page to get in touch with one of our staff who can assist you further!

The help section doesn’t actually help with this problem. Its simply a missing feature to select the installation directory.
