Foliage causing graphical glitches in 4.12

This seems to work totally fine when I press play, but if I launch and it cooks the program then I am getting some weird artefacts coming out what appears to be the 0,0,0 position.
This project is set up on 6 separate maps, 4 houses, a courtyard and the surrounding area. I am using the foliage tool on most of the landscaped areas, it looks like a bush. This only seemed to happen on 4.12?

Can someone please give me some assistance on this. I have been trying to fix it for days.
I thought it may have been a certain type of bush, because i removed the material from the bush and then the artefact turned into the worldgridmaterial grey colour, so I deleted every single one from the yards and I am still getting the problem but it is back to green, so I’m guessing it is now a different plant.

Is the plants in instances indexed? could it be working it’s way through them when I remove a certain type?

This is a large archvis project that has 4 houses all landscaped, I’ve been given the go ahead by the client to do the final light build but I have this problem.

They are sub-levels, I did try and open a version of the my application in 4.13 preview 1, but as I’m using instalod for some of my meshes I think that is why I could not compile the project.

Also I could not find that issue number in the issue tracker

Hi ,

This looks like a known issue, UE-32585, that has already been addressed for 4.13. Is your foliage in a sublevel?

UE-32585 contains some sensitive information, so unfortunately we could not push it to public. However, it should be fixed in 4.13, though it may not be in the first preview. If, after the full release, this has not been fixed, please post back and I’ll be happy to take another look. For now I will mark this as resolved for tracking purposes.

was there a temporary fix or workaround for this issue? i’m trying to post an update, and my packaged build continuous to exhibit this issue in one level. (not a sub-level).

My fix was to redo all of the foliage :frowning: have you tried the 4.13 preview to see if it converts alright?

ok, in the process of preparing to redo all the foliage, i went through and checked all of the settings in related assets like landscape materials, landscape grass types, foliage painting, etc. making duplicates, and recompiling with subtle changes to see if that would flush anything.

what i noticed was that my landscape blend materials (3 layers) had preview weight set to 0.5 for only one of the 3 layers. when i set the other two layers to also have a preview weight of 0.5, this seemed to fix the problem. it might also be worth stating that the foliage that was causing the problem was actually located in the landscape grass type hooked into the landscape material, rather than the foliage editing instances in my case.
