please explain use of normal map in meterial creation

What is the use of normal in meterial editor ? please help.

Can we call this a base texture to a meterial

hi there, it s there to use normal maps.
that aims to add lots of details, without adding geometry. (kind of advanced bump with 3 dimensions)

depends what you mean by “base” texture. but it s pretty usefull for most of the materials
