Issue opening project - missing dylib file

Let me begin by saying that I do not know programming or game design, I am currently trying to learn game audio with FMOD by integrating it into a game that a friend of mine created.

So the game was created on a Windows computer and I am trying to open it on a Mac, and I keep getting the error that the .dylib file is missing, and it won’t let me compile a new one (I hear this is a common issue). I tried to follow a suggestion here that suggested that I open it in xcode and build from there, but the build fails due to “exit code 5”. So I tried to follow the suggestions listed here but I still get “exit code 5”. No idea what I am doing wrong.

I know that you guys probably need more information from me, however, is someone willing to help me/walk me through this? thanks in advance, really don’t know what I am doing

Ok i think i found your error.

One of the last lines of the error message reveals it:

‘Enum’ is not allowed here Error:
Failed to generate code for
ChildNoMoreEditor

With the update from 4.11 to 4.12 it is now illigal to declare UENUM enums outside of global scope (i.e. in class scope).
You will have to update your code to this new rule and then it will work.

Yes. If you do not want / are unable to change the code just use version 4.11 and it should be working. Please try it and if not just write here again.

I’m still hitting a roadblock. Is there really no easy way to open up a project created on Windows, on a Mac? In the future, I will have to follow these steps every time?

This problem is not mac only. It should not compile in windows too. The problem is that you use 4.12. It wont compile with 4.12 on any platform.

hey fabianu, I just wanted to check in and let you know that I was able to (after a lot of issues and googling) open up the build today, and was able to integrate FMOD into the project like I wanted to. Thank you again for your help, couldn’t have done it without you!
