Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Can't edit actor in detail panel of World Outliner

I am using the FPS game mode and deleted the default FPS character to make an own one because I don't need the gun and arms. It's working but the problem I have is that I can't edit stuff in the World Outliner details panel. I can change walk speed etc. there, but it does not influence anything.

Instead I have to open the blueprint in Blueprint Editor, click on the Character Movement component, and there in the details panel I can change stuff then that works.

How can I change that? It's much faster to change these things in the world outliner. It has been like that but the moment I deleted something in the construction script to get rid of the gun of the default FPS character it changed. I think.

Hi Hunxenlunx,

Do you see the options come up in the details pane, like this:

Make sure you are editing the general settings, as many of the other settings are for specific movement modes.

Here, I took 2 screenshots. As you can see, the values are different for each. And changing them in world outliner has no effect.

btw, directly selecting the movement component in the world outliner shows the same values as selecting the whole actor and also does not change a thing.

Yes I am editing them there, and I can search for example "an crouch" there and check it, but it does not make a difference. Only when I click on the actor in the list, open the Blueprint Editor, select Movement Component there on the left, and then another details panel opens in the Blueprint Editor that looks exactly the same, and there I can check "can crouch" as well and this does have an effect then.

But before I made my own character I could check this stuff in the World Outliner detail panel and it would affect the ingame character which it does not anymore now.

I haven't been able to reproduce this on my end. Do you have any steps I can take to recreate what you are seeing? When I make alterations in the Detail's Pane, they take effect within the level viewport during PIE.
