Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

How do I create a simple starfield skybox?

I came across this: https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/15307/how-to-create-simple-space-skybox.html

I've created my cube map to use, but I can't figure out how to implement it as a skybox. The documentation is a little lacking in this area, or I'm just way too new to this to figure it out.

Can anyone offer a hand, please?

Getting comments deleted for no reason is hurtful btw

Hey Dieselhead,

It wasn't deleted. Our profanity filter caught it. Careful!

I bleeped out the word for you and posted it below.

I've had a bad day so I'm glad to hear this, I've learned something new. Sorry for posting with an attitude and hijacking the topic and thanks for being cool, you guys are great.

Did you try the comment in the link you posted explaining it step by step? Not trying to sound like an *** here, just checking if you tried it and it didn't work?

I (thought I) did try, Dieselhead. While I'm very experienced in I.T. and Photoshop, and somewhat experienced in Blender and Illustrator, I felt I was missing something simple.

Looks like I was, it was incredibly late last night when I posted this and I seem to have followed the link that is inside the link that I provided without reading the whole post through! I completely missed the "walkthrough" underneath that article, and somehow I've only read the top replies. Now I feel like a dunce. :P

Thanks for your suggestion, I can't believe I overlooked that. I'll get onto trying that now combined with the replies below, and I'll post again if it doesn't work out. Sorry to waste everyone's time, and thank you kindly for the replies!

Hey Spinkler,

Once you have a working cubemap, you can drop it into your level and it should show up as any other Actor if it is set up correctly. You'll want to make sure you remove the existing sky sphere (usually BP_Sky_Sphere is the default for our templates).

Thanks, Ben! Seems I somehow overlooked the full-blown walkthrough in the post I've linked, anyway, so that should point me in the right direction, too.

Note to self: No more posting for help when I'm incredibly tired. I will wait until morning. ;)
