Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Hello Tulk,

Can you be a bit more specific in regards to the time frame in the video where you are referring?

I believe you are talking about the Usage within the material editor which can be found by opening the material you are working with, scrolling down in the details panel to Usage > Used with Landscape, and selecting the checkbox.

Doesn't have this on my material editor =/.

Did you install the engine from the launcher or from source (GitHub)?

You might want to re-install the editor as that option should be readily available in the default engine installation. Be sure you are pressing the dropdown arrow within the 'Details' tab.

I downloaded unreal here:

https://www.unrealengine.com/dashboard

As I remember I activated almost everything/ or everything that was in the Details tab.

I'm using 4.13 (preview) version.

So apologies for the confusion. I was testing on 4.12.5 when I provided the screenshot. I just ran another test in the preview 3 release and can confirm what you are reporting.

I have gone ahead and entered a report for this issue. You can track this by navigating to the issue on our public issues site via the link below.

I just re-install the engine on here: https://www.unrealengine.com/dashboard and didn't appear this option =/. Where can I found the default engine installation?

avatar image AndrewHurley Aug 29 '16 at 05:43 PM

As I mentioned, it is missing in the preview release so no matter how many times you re-install the option will not appear. However, this option should be readily available for use in the 4.12.5 version of the engine.

ah.. sorry.. I hadn't understood! I mistook the translation unintentionally. outcome/expected.. hahaha =) It will fix it on the next version?

avatar image AndrewHurley Aug 29 '16 at 06:11 PM

The fix version has not been determined yet, but once it is the issue will be updated with that information.

This setting is no longer necessary, feel free to ignore it.

Landscape automatically compiles landscape-specific material shaders when the material is applied to the landscape.
