Hi,

Once build my level it shows in editor as below image

and when I’m playing in editor its fine like below

But if i close and open this project or open main menu level and come back to this level, the editor shows like as below. Some black patches on everywhere…

And if i’m playing its like same below

But its not happening every time. Some times it will be fine.
Now biggest problem im facing that my windows package, it always play like this

And it will never play like below

Please help me out. why is happening? and how to solve this?

Please some one help me out…
I can’t find out what exactly the problem is?

Hi Kandeep,

Try deleting your saved and intermediate folder in your project then open your project and build. Then reopen the map and see if the problem persists. (This may not fix anything but is a good initial step)

Also got some questions.

  1. Where you see all the black splotches is that a seam where two pieces of geometry meet?
  2. Are you using Instanced or Procedural meshes?
  3. Are your meshes children who have been rotated at different angles from the parent?
  4. Could you take a screenshot of your lightmap density when the map looks bad? (see screenshot to see where this is located)

Hi Ed,

First for your reply. Below is lightmap density

Yesterday I’ve tried some steps and its workout. But I can’t find out why is happening?

First of all the black patch problem occurs only Living room wall and ceiling roof meshes. Below the image shows Living room wall and ceiling roof object. These are single static meshes and bigger then other meshes.

Because of the size I’ve changed lightmass resolution to 2048 for better quality and as I expected the result also came good. But some times the black error appears which lead my to post a question here. In my map only these 2 meshes are 2048 resolution. other then that all the other meshes are very fine.

Later I’ve tried to migrate my map to new project and build again. but same problem like when I save the map or changing ‘view mode’ then those 2 meshes turns to black or it may come back from black patch to normal.

And finally I’ve changed those 2 meshes to 1024 resolution and build again. Now everything is fine. Even windows package is working fine. the below image taken from windows package.

But i’m not able to figure out why 2048 resolution went wrong?

Is because of my system config? → My system config is Intel i7 4700 mq → GTX 770 → 16 RAM → 512 SSD.

Below is my lightmass setting

I’m trying to figure out why is happening?
It will be better if I’m getting tips from your side.

Did you delete your saved and intermediate folder and? (that information would help a lot)

You have some pretty intensive settings on your Lightmass particularly your number of light bounces. Could you set these fields to default for testing purposes.

Static Lighting Level Scale
Num Indirect Lighting Bounce
Indirect lighting Quality
Indirect Lighting Smoothness

And then see if the issue persists.

Also I noticed in your screenshot the wall lightmaps are getting invalidated. This may be an issue with your wall and ceiling assets. Double check your static mesh workflow just to be sure you exported/imported those assets properly: FBX Content Pipeline | Unreal Engine 5.1 Documentation

Ya i’ve tried to delete my saved and intermediate folder and build again. But not worked. Below is my export and import settings which usually I do.

And as you told I’ve tried reset my world lightmass settings to default values. This time I’ve pasted only wall and floors(no furniture) in new map and build. Now everything is fine. Below I’ve shared the image. In that wall and roof are 2048 resolution. Even windows package is fine.

So is there a problem with my lightmass settings?

Hi Kandeep,
