Hi there,
I’m really excited about the new additions to 4.13. More specifically the improvements to performance on movable lighting. My environment is 90% movable lighting with much of the environment set to movable meshs (besides structural) as they can be interacted with. in 4.12 I was getting above 60fps at all times in the editor and in the build. In 4.13 I’m getting 100-120fps in the editor (woohoo) and 40-50fps in the build. I also notice in the editor the FPS drops by about 40fps if I have any editors open (like blueprint), closing them doesn’t bring the FPS back, I have to restart unreal. I assume this might be because much of the environment isn’t set to static but that doesn’t explain why it performs so well in the editor If I don’t open blueprint.
My lights are movable point lights and cast shadows.
A side note, I’m also using a planer reflection for a mirror. In 4.12 the FPS when looking in to that was above 60. in 4.13 its around 30, I assume again that this might be to do with the lighting.
I’ve had a look online but there isn’t too much out there just yet.
I’d really love to not have to roll back to 4.12 so is there anything I can do about this?
