Cannot open Unreal Match 3 in Unreal Editor 4.12.5

Anytime I attempt to open Unreal Match 3 in Unreal Editor 4.12.5, It freezes. If I click directly on the Unreal Match 3 file, it will reach up to 39%. If I launch the editor first, It will reach up to 45%. I have successfully opened files I created myself without trouble. I have tried replacing the Unreal Match 3 files with a new download. Is there a certain edition of Unreal Editor I should be using?

I have a few questions:

  • Have you tried opening the project in a version besides 4.12?
  • Could you please provide your dxdiag?
  • How long have you given the project to open up?

I have only attempted to open it in version 4.12.
The sample I downloaded was for 4.12

I waited for about 2 hours and it never went past 45%

I think I may need more memory. Currently, I have 4GB and am looking to upgrade to 8GB in the hopes that it will solve the problem.

Hello,

After learning about your memory limitations, this appears to be the cause of the issue. We recommend at least 8GB when working with UE4. Anything lower than this can cause performance issues when working with the editor, such as the inability to open more complex projects like what you are currently running into.
