Background/ambient noise when Simulating Play from my Character BP?

I haven’t touched my sound options and throughout nearly all of the Unreal Engine versions I’ve consistently had no sound.

When I PIE I still have no sound - which is what I want - but if I hit Simulate Play (Alt+P) from inside of a character blueprint, the engine plays this horrendous sounding ambient noise.

If I need to upload anything to demonstrate it, please let me know.

Running version 4.13

Hey Koniferus,

This sounds like it could be a sound card or driver issue if you have been experiencing this issue throughout all engine versions. For that reason, this issue might be hard to report as the repro will more than likely not occur on my end.

Can you provide me with your ‘dxdiag’ so I can take a look at your system specifications?

Is there anything in particular you are doing when the sound begins to act up, or is it completely random?

Are you using headphones or a speaker system?

Have you attempted to use different Audio ports on your machine (if any exist)?

Let me know if you have further questions or need additional assistance.

Cheers,

Hi Andrew,

Sorry for the late reply. After shutting down my system for the day and powering back up the next day, I’ve been unable to reproduce the issue. It was definitely weird and has only happened with 4.13 when hitting play from within a character’s blueprint window. It seemed like some kind of ambient noise was enabling by default but you may very well be correct about it being a driver issue on my end.

Since everything is good to go now, we can probably consider this resolved.

Thanks for everything you guys do!
