Would a VR specific viewport for editing be possible?

Hypothetically, would it be possible to build a viewport in UE4 that is compatible with VR (stereoscopic etc)? If so, would it be useful?

I could see it being used as a way for developer to build their environment while viewing them in VR.

I don’t have an Oculus Rift yet, nor do I have much experience with UE4, so feel free to shoot me down if the notion is ridiculous (or if it is already possible).

I would like to know if this is possible too, I need to develop for the Oculus VR but I don’t have one…

Hi LewisP,

At this point, you must have an Oculus Rift or another compatible VR device in order to develop VR games.

Take a look at the VR section of the UE4 Roadmap to see what devices we have plans to support and while you are there feel free to vote for other features that you would like implemented first.

Also, the link below takes you to the pre-order site for the Oculus Rift Development Kit 2, which is much better priced than the units you see on eBay.

Thanks, TJ
