Hi,
I’ve downloaded the version 4.1.1 of Unreal Engine and when I start the engine it craches all the time. So I decided to download the version 4.0.2 and it works OK.
My Video board is GeForce® GT 540M
I would like to know if I can do anything to solve my problem??
Upload your crash log together with dxdiag report please. Here is where to find the crash log;
If you are experiencing a crash, then please provide us with the .LOG and .DMP files from your [project]\Saved\Logs folder. Additionally, you can please send us the CrashReportClient.log file located in C:\Program Files\Unreal Engine\4.0\Engine\Programs\CrashReportClient\Saved\Logs.
Just a couple of quick question to better help us figure out what is exactly happening. Is this the first time you are attempting to run the Engine on your PC? If not, was the Engine able to open and close without any issues before? i see that you are able to revert back to 4.0.2 and run the editor so i just want to see if you have had UE4 prior to the launch of 4.1.1.
Is this the first time you are attempting to run the Engine on your PC?
→ YES . The Editor starts opening, freezes and crash. I´ve never used the version 4.1.1.
I also tryed to uninstall and reinstall, but I got the same issue.
As I couldn´t use the version 4.1.1, I´ve downloaded the version 4.0.2 just to give a try and I´ve got surprised, it worked.
These files are the logs for the CrashReporter itself (not sure why you’ve been asked to upload them?), and I wouldn’t think be that useful. A more helpful file would be the log file from the project itself, located in ProjectName/Saved/Logs
These usually contain the call stack or final error message output on crashing.
From the photo that you are showing, It looks like your Drivers are failing when you attempt to open UE4. This is a huge sign that the GPU is failing. When the Engine went into the 4.1 update, Rendering got a giant overhaul which caused the engine to be heavily reliant on the GPU and CPU. With the 4.1.1 update, a hotfix was implemented so that it would take some strain off of the GPU so that more graphics cards would be able to run UE4. The only recommendations I would have for you is to stay in 4.0.2 and, possibly, wait until a new update would allow you to run UE4, or you may want to look into purchasing a new graphics card. I was able to benchmark your card and the rating of it was significantly below what is recommended. The recommended Graphics cards found here are reasonably priced, the Geforce more so then the Radeon, and should allow UE4 to open with the new updates.
If you happen to purchase a new card and the issue is still occurring, please open this issue up and i will re-look into it.
This GPU is higher then what is recommended, so I would say yes. You should see a MAJOR upgrade in performance within the Engine, probably around 2x compared to the previous card. If you feel as though the price is good, then I would go for it!
If you do decide on whether to buy the one from your friend, or to purchase another one, you can open this question back up and I will look back into the issue.
