I’m an architect and I would like to use this engine for some architectural representation.
Sorry to ask but the FAQ tells about “recommended” and I need to know the “minimum” so I could compare it to my current specs and know if I could run UDK 4.
After looking through the forums and AnswerHub, I have gathered a couple of posts that may serve useful for you. I know that you have seen the “recommended” so I am going to stay as far away as possible from that list.
I have also compared your card to the recommended ones that are on our list here (just for reference): A new, community-hosted Unreal Engine Wiki - Announcements - Unreal Engine Forums .
It seems that the CPU and Graphics card are both below what the recommended are and could make the editor run very slowly. ( I used multiple CPU and GPU benchmark sites to compare)
If you do experience a very low frame rate when using the editor, this link could be beneficial as to how to run UE4 more smoothly: How to Improve Frame Rate Through Video Settings - Announcements - Unreal Engine Forums
After all of the looking around for comparisons as to what you have in your PC, it is still very difficult to just say yes or no the Editor will work. The only way to really know would to be Trial and (hopefully not) Error.
Hope that this helps you with your question. If you have any further questions, please let me know.
Thank you Sean, now I’m decided to get Unreal Engine 4,
My idea es to use it for my final architecture masters exam on december, my idea is to use the engine to show my architectural project.
I’m using AECOsim building designer to model the project, AECOsim can export files to 3ds and other 3d modelling softwares.
I would like to share with the community my work and also open the possibility to use this technology at my architecture school.
