Royalties Question

Hello everyone,
We are evaluating the best product / licensing for our needs and I have a question about the royalties model on our project (it’s not 100% clear to us).

Our customer owns a web-based e-learning solution that is already producing revenue and he would like to add some vr-based simulations as an add-on to the product.

Now, people using the e-learning web site already pay a fixed monthly fee to access the courses and our customer would like to also begin offering them access to some custom built simulations at no extra cost. The simulations will allow the users to test their skills in a pseudo practical way after they go through the online courses.

The question is: if we implement the simulations using Unreal, does our customer owe you the royalties on his already existing revenue? If not, how does it work?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

Will the Unreal Engine products be freely accessible to the general public or only to paying members?

Only to subscribers that already pay for the e-learning contents

Under the EULA, there is not a way to automatically allocate a certain percentage of value associated with the UE4 Product out of a larger package. The default would be that the 5% royalty applies to all associated proceeds. If you want to dig further, please reach out to custom licensing.

Ok, I’ll try to go through custom licensing and see if there’s a way to limit the royalties due. If nothing comes up I’m afraid we’ll have to select another engine for the job.

Thank you again for the help
