Sink particle

I am trying to make a particle effect for turning on a sink. The material is what I think needs to be better. Anyone have any suggestions on what to include in my material to help that effect look better?

Here is the current material I am using and the particle system in the editor.
I actually manipulated the stock M_Heat_Distortion material.

I suggest, that instead of using particles you split your effect into the following parts:

  • Water jet from the tap - Translucent
    mesh with animated flowing normal
    map.
  • Water in the sink - Can be part of
    sink paterial. Change of roughness +
    flowmap driving normal map animation
    to create illusion of draining water
    flow.
  • Water drops - particle effect with
    droplets flying off, where jet hits
    the sink or water surface

Could you give me an example of what this material would look like for the water jet? This is what I have.
