Installed a code plugin with engine still open

Hi! I’ve just installed LE Extended Standard Library to my Unreal Engine version 4.13.0. However, after installing the plugin, I closed my project and restarted it, only to find it looking very strange. Here is a screenshot of what my game looks like after I opened it: Imgur: The magic of the Internet

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I’m not sure as to what went wrong.

I am unsure, but how did your project look before?

Hi, thanks for the response! Compared to the picture included in the post, before the bug occurred, the level was the basic “FirstPersonExampleMap”. Now, all of the map’s static meshes are invisible, and the weapons/player mesh have weird randomly flipped normals. The only thing that changed between then and now was the installation of the plugin. Other project files that weren’t open during installation open fine and normally.

Can you try to turn off the plugin? You can do this by right-clicking your .uproject and open it with a program like Notepad.

In the area that is labeled plugins, find the LE Extended Standard Library and where it says, “Enabled: true”, change it to, “Enabled: false”. Then, re-launch your project.

Let me know if you see the same thing.

Hi, appreciate the response; I turned off the plugin, and opened the project. It was the same as when the bug first occurred. I did discover a bit more in regards to the bug: when I select a static mesh from the template level, it appears as it normally would. It also appears that the normals for the weapon meshes are inverted.

Can you make a new project and import the mesh you see inverted into that project and tell me if it is still inverted?

Thanks.

I’ve migrated the weapon BP’s and all of their dependencies to a new blank project, and it appears exactly as it should.

Hey JasonChoate,

Thanks for the report.

At this time, because you have shown that the mesh is working in another project and because you are using a third party plugin (LE Extended Standard Library), we do not think this is a bug with the Unreal Engine.

Instead, this is probably due to a import setting or change to a setting when you were working either with the plugin or the mesh, while in your project. If you continue to have issues with the plugin, I recommend reaching out to the developers with your concerns.
