UE 4.13 Takes over second monitor

When I have a blueprint window open, but have it behind chrome on windows it will periodically jump to the front. It has happened 5 times while trying to create this post. It doesn’t do it at a consistent rate either. At first I thought maybe it was the autosaves causing it to come to the top level, that isn’t the case though. It’s not editor breaking or anything, just annoying when trying to collaborate or watch tutorials.

UE4.13

Windows 10 64-bit home

Chrome 53.0.2785.116 m

Reproduction - Use Google Chrome with a maximized blueprint window open under it on the same monitor. Then wait.

Hey HaxO,

I have attempted to reproduce the issue on my end by maximizing the blueprint on my second monitor and placing a chrome window over it. I worked in chrome for about ten minutes and did not experience the blueprint window popping to the front.

I have a few questions:

  • Is the editor window separate from the blueprint window or do you have your blueprints docked on the same window as the editor?
  • Could you please provide your dxdiag?
  • Is your Google Chrome window maximized as well?
  • My blueprint window is separate from
    the editor window.

  • It’s not crashing, would it still be
    generating a dxdiag?

  • Google Chrome is maximized.

An interesting note is that I had a Epic Starter Content object P_Sparks in my scene and recently removed it. I haven’t had this problem since then.

A dxdiag is a collection of your system specs. You can grab it by opening the start menu, typing in dxdiag and pressing Enter to run the command.

Once you do this a window will pop up. Press the Save All Information button on the bottom right of the window. This will allow you to save a text file. This is what I’d like you to upload.

Here ya go!

Also, scratch that P_Sparks comment, just started doing it again. Seems to come and go in waves.

Hey HaxO,

After further testing, I have been unable to reproduce the issue despite trying on a few machines. As a result, this leads me to believe that it is not a bug with UE4, but a local issue related to a specific hardware/software setup that you are using.

I’d recommend taking a look at the Software Conflicts wiki to ensure that you don’t have anything installing that is conflicting.

In the meantime, due to lack of a local repro case, I will mark this topic as resolved. If it becomes a more severe problem, or if other users are experiencing it as well, feel free to return to the thread and re-open it with a comment.

Thank you for your report & have a great day!
