iOS launch failed: "Cannot start process because a file name has not been provided."

Hi there,

My question is similar to this one:
https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/427860/ios-launch-failed-cannot-start-process-because-a-f.html

But the solution provided isn’t applicable to me

I’m using the Launcher based editor on Windows 10 to launch an iOS app, but I’m running into issues. I am using a blank version of the first person template project (blueprint) and I followed the iOS quick start steps to get a provisioning profile, certificate etc.

Hoping someone can help me with this…

Here is my error log:

Hi .taylor09

Regardless of your project being all Blueprints, you will need to install Visual Studio 2015 for compiling/packaging and be sure to include Common Tools for Visual C++ 2015 which you will have to manually select as it is not automatically included with Visual Studio 2015.

Let me know if this does not resolve your issue.

.

Hi ,

Thanks for getting back to me. I have tried the following:

  • Run the Visual Studio C++ installer, select modify and check the box for Common Tools for Visual C++ 2015
  • Reinstall the engine (Version 4.13.0)
  • Restart PC
  • Try launching project again

None of the above seemed to have fixed the issue

OK I managed to get this working

First I had to install the C++ common tools for Visual Studio as per 's answer

Secondly, I had to disable the Substance Designer plugin in the editor.

I’ve no idea why the plugin would cause build issues? sounds like a bug to me…
