Landscape - Material Paint Tool Crashes - 4.13.1

Hi,
since 4.13.1 the Landscape Material Paint Tool leads to an Engine crash when I select it. I have checked this with different projects. It´s everywhere the same.

It would be very nice if you could fix this bug in the next update. :slight_smile:

I’ve been having this same crash since 4.13.1 aswell, regardless of what material I use or project I’m in, remaking landscape doesn’t fix it.

Are you guys on Mac? We’ve had some reports of issues with landscape on mac with this release.

What’s the crash message/callstack?

Are you using Light Propagation Volumes? It looks like it could be an incompatibility with that.

Yes, I activated Light Propagation Volumes in the Config File. But I really need this feature.For this reason it would be very helpful if you could fix this incompatibility if LPVs are responsible for this.

We’re tracking this as UE-36933.

I aswell had light propagation volumes enabled. Disabling them via config with r.LightPropagationVolume = 0 seems to fix the crash.

Yes, it solves the problem with the painting tool. But if you need LPVs it’s not a good solution. As you can see this problem has still a tracking number.

Agreed. I simply am disabling LPVs in order to edit the landscape and then turning them back on when need be. But a fix would be sickness as well as dope

I am also receiving this fatal crash when trying to paint. However I have tried doing the fixes that others have stated here and I still get the crash (I’ve removed any landscape visibility node and changed the shader back to opaque, and I’ve disabled Light Propagation Volumes).

Did you disable in the engine or make sure to use the config to set r.LightPropagationVolume = 0 and then restart?
