Low FPS in editor

Hi guys,

I know this question has been mentioned in other threads before. However, I have not seen the answer that could help to solve my issue with using UE4 yet. So please help me out if you have some info that could help me to troubleshoot my issue.

I am using UE 4.10.2 to create a level map. I am pretty new to UE4 and just started learning how to use it right now. I created a map and my fps in the U editor dropped to 20 fps and below after I put about 1,000 actors into the level map (1,163 actors to be exact). Prior to that my fps was about 60-70 fps. All the game assets are from the KiteDemo package and the StarterContent package. I am thinking that the drop in fps is from putting too many actors into the scene and causing performance drop in my PC. But that is just my guess. If you could let me know if it is really performance issue from my hardware or something else. Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

My PC specs are as follow:

  • Window: Window 7 Ultimate
  • Processor: Intel Core i7 4770K @3.50 GHz
  • Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770
  • Memory (RAM): 32 GB
  • Monitor: 1920 x 1080

You are issues are totally related to your level. I am running almost the same rig and can’t complain.

1000 actors does not sound any conclusive at all. Kite demo assets are quite performance hungry.
