Android build fail - Unknown erro

Need urgent help for Cardboard Android deployment. The build fails with “unknown error” after I activate “for distribution” in project settings. The development build works fine.

System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file ‘C:\Users\Documents\Unreal Projects\FIW_VR\Intermediate/Android/APK/bin/FIW_VR-release.apk’.

Yes, I saw the “Could not find file” message and I am aware of the error.
But how is that possible? As I mentioned, I have been building non-distribution apks with the same file. As a matter of fact right after the fail I disabled "for distribution"and it was packaged without errors.
Apparently, something must be wrong with the distribution settings. Question is where?
Any suggestions?

Since the error seems to be stemming from the Intermediate folder, please delete your Intermediate and Saved folder from the project folder. After you’ve done that, please try to package again and upload the logs.
