What's the point of "simulate"? "play" has all the information needed

I mean, everything that “simulate” present us, “play” can give, right? Yet simulate can’t have player control debugging.
So what’s so good about simulating? Is there any circumstance that “simulate” would be super handy , or irreplacable?

Core difference is outline here.
While it may seem that PIE to preview something, you are working on, is a good option, it is not as convenient as SIE.

A typical example you needing to place a dynamic, physical object somewhat accurately. SIE would get you there faster.

So basically it’s about convenience and speed, am I correct?

for convenience, speed and ease of debugging, yep.
